Walking Through Divorce

We experience many transitions in our lives, some small and some almost incomprehensible. Divorce is one of the big ones. It is complicated, involves every emotion we have and takes a team to get us through it. Each of us who goes through a divorce starts the process by thinking we should be able to handle it on our own. We can’t - we shouldn’t and we don’t. We need friends and therapists, and, often attorneys and financial advisors. We need books and tears and enormous amounts of quiet and laughter. We also need Spirit.

Divorce turns our lives inside out. We need to remember who we are in our heart of hearts. It makes a huge difference when we know that there is loving support for us at 3 am as we are walking through a dark house either angry as hell, or so sad we’re sure our guts will fall out. Yes, these are graphic statements and quite true. I remind you that you are loved and supported through all transitions including this one.

I will be bluntly honest. I didn’t want to get divorced my last time around. I didn’t want to feel the pain and the loneliness that I had felt before. Fortunately, there were no children directly involved in the last return to singlehood. That made it slightly less traumatic. And, having been through divorce before, and having helped others through the process, I knew what to expect.

I knew the steps. I knew the dark night of my soul was in front of me. Knowing didn’t make it any easier. I still had to walk the path, feel the pain and do my personal work.

What got me through, and what I offer to you is this - keep talking to Spirit. Keep yelling and screaming and crying to your personal team of Spirit Guides or God or whomever you work with. They hear you. They will take your pain and your sorrow when you allow them. They will hold you and fill you with love and healing. They will help you replace the overwhelming emotions and life changes with confidence. They can help you fill the hole in your soul with a sense of well being. You can ask for, and receive, grace. You are not lost. You are not alone. And, you are not crazy.

You are changing. You know, as I know, that there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. No, it is not an oncoming train. It is peace, joy and sanity. It is love and a breath of fresh air. It is a more vital you making better choices and seeing your life with new eyes. Yes, it takes time. It is a journey of forgiveness, discovery, remembering and growing.

There is a deep and powerful reason for taking this journey. We may not like the change. And yet we know in our heart of hearts that we will be better for it.

This July 4 - 6, I am honored to be presenting, along with three other compassionate and powerful experts on divorce, at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York. Together, we will cover the critical information for getting through divorce with Power & Clarity. These women are J. Kim Wright, Jac Patrissi and Ellen Kellner.

I believe that it is significant that the day we start is Independence Day. There are no coincidences!

Omega is a beautiful retreat facility tucked away in the woods on a peaceful lake. The energy of the land, along with the Institute’s purpose and the people of Omega, combine to offer an idyllic place to heal, find your center and meet like-hearted friends.

If you are a woman, with children or not, going through this tremendous change or still in the healing process, come spend the weekend with us. You will be loved, supported and enlightened on this critical life journey.

Divorce, no matter how amicable, is never easy. The many legal hurdles and the emotional turmoil can wreak havoc on our lives, making us hard to be around and even to live with ourselves. The insomnia, angry outbursts, and bouts of grief make us feel our world has been turned upside down.

This workshop for women only is designed to help guide us through divorce and its aftermath. If you are heading for a divorce, are in the process now, recently divorced, or divorced years ago and still struggling with it, the team of experts leading this program can help. Together they offer a comprehensive approach to making divorce less tumultuous, and help us to see it as an opportunity for healing, transformation, and empowerment.

Throughout the weekend we learn how to understand and navigate the legal system; how to energetically separate from our spouses and the negative patterns that have developed in the relationship; how to leave and heal from destructive relationships, how to best cope with co-parenting issues with a difficult ex-partner; how to develop divorce solutions that nurture our children; and how to create a new life that fits our values and most cherished commitments to ourselves and to others. More Information.
